Choose my book title

I’m days away from completing my first book (woohoo!) and I would like YOU to give your honest opinions on which title I should use (yikes!). But here’s a few things to note:

What my book isn’t

  • Boring
  • Voluminous
  • Conservative
  • Complex
  • Depressing

What my book will be (hopefully)

  • Revealing
  • Informative
  • Playful
  • Funny
  • Unique

My book is in two parts: Part I is a collection of all my intriguing childhood and teenage experiences within Nigeria and the United Kingdom; and Part II is a collection of the most popular posts on my blog. My story is a comical take on my journey to self-discovery and my desperate attempts to fit into this odd world. My wish is that this book will inspire readers from all walks of life to accept themselves for who they are no matter what critics say, and to pursue their passion because that’s usually the one thing that makes us feel alive.

Book titles for consideration

  • The Crazy Nigerian (Same title as my blog)
  • Crazy Nigerian Boy
  • A spoonful of Imbroglio
  • This joke’s on me
  • X, Y, Me
  • Moonwalking down Memory Lane (I’m a big MJ fan)
  • Shut up! I’m talking…to myself
  • What they didn’t know
  • So you thought I wouldn’t publish this
  • Experience was my worst teacher
  • They don’t teach you this at school
  • Right off my chest
  • My brain is at the drycleaners
  • Air miles and plastic smiles
  • The Write-Off

If you could spare a minute and just Cut & Paste the title or titles you like, or you could conjure up a catchy title that you think will suit the type of book I’m writing – that’ll be great!

The Reward!

As part of a giveaway, I will be making an online version of my book available to all the people who comment on this post with their choice of title (or suggested title). Entries will close by April 30th, 2012 and thereafter I’ll send your exclusive free e-book to your email addy 🙂

Your’s truly,

*Jollof*

  2. Instead of ‘Right off my chest’ I thought u could play on words and go with ‘Write Off My Chest’. That said, my fav four are:

    Shut up! I’m talking…to myself
    Air miles and plastic smiles

    • Thanks Bonnie. Ironically I had written ‘Write Off My Chest’ initially then I changed my mind for no reason. I’ve noted your favourites…interesting choices 🙂

  3. You could play on words and use ‘Write off my chest’ as opposed to ‘Right off my chest’. That being said, my fav four are:
    The Crazy Nigerian
    X, Y, Me
    Shut up! I’m talking…to myself
    Air miles and plastic smiles

    • Cheers bro. The title you chose is gaining more popularity by the look of things but I may need to combine titles (perhaps as part of a possible series of books). Anything’s possible 🙂

    Crazy Nigerian
By the way just stumbled on your blog and all i can say is CRAZY!!(i like)

    • Hey Timi, I do apologize. I had replied to this but never realized it wasn’t submitted successfully. It was purely an oversight or should I say that my brain was at the drycleaners that time? 🙂

      • 🙂 its ok, i was just sad and wondered who in my village is following me that u didnt acknowledge my existence. Hehehehe still waiting on the book oooo

        • Editing in progress. At worst I’ll send a PDF format this month and still send an official E-book copy complete with all the graphics. Sit tight 🙂

  10. I’d say go for The Crazy Nigerian, I think it suits the best with what the book is about, especially because your blog has that name and the book is partial about your blog. Well done on wirting a book, I think it has to take a lot of patience!

  11. X, Y, Me
    Shut up! I’m talking…to myself
Right off my chest / Write Off My Chest
The Crazy Nigerian : (any of above titles) if you are working on developing TCN as a brand; so then future books would be TCN : XYZ title

Congrats on the book ! Can’t wait to have a read ! You won’t believe – but this whole last week I’ve been working on e-books for 2 other clients and been pushing my business partner to publish one as well !

    • Hmm TCN brand sounds exciting Double D; paves the way for follow-up book titles. I had no idea you were involved in e-books! You might have just found a third client 😉

  12. The other titles would catch my attention, but i’d pick ‘Crazy Nigerian’ over them.
first time here, and i’m loving it.

  13. Am I too late? I hope not! Here are my choices
    Iripawnot – pls pls 😀
If not then guess I’ll settle for The Crazy Nigerian. Please not D but The abeg!

    Good luck bro

  14. Shut up, I am talking to myself.

    1) It is catchy
    2) You sound crazy
    3) I would want to read shit like that.

Also – I want an autographed advance copy. I will need your paypal account so I can send you the money.
